Relief and Recovery Efforts
and thoughts go out to all those who have lost so much in the
recent hurricanes and, who will be working to rebuild their
lives and communities for years to come. We encourage our members
to support organizations that are conducting relief and rebuilding
Below is a list of selected organizations providing food and
farming related assistance to areas impacted by the hurricanes,
with an emphasis on groups that will support community development
and empowerment as well as immediate relief. We will add to
this list in the near future and welcome your suggestions.
We also encourage you to consider signing on to a letter from
the Rural Coalition urging USDA to help farmers and farmworkers

Supports family farmers and community development in the South,
with a focus on African-Americans.
Food Research and Action Center
Focuses on federal food assistance programs, including timely
information on hurricane relief.
Grassroots/Low-income/People of Color-led Hurricane Katrina
Includes descriptions, links, and contact information for a
wide diversity of organizations.
Supports economic and community development efforts internationally.
