Training and Technical Assistance Services for Community Food Projects Grant Applicants and Recipients

The CFS Coalition provides services tailored specifically for groups that are applying for or have received grant funds from USDA's Community Food Projects Competitive Grants Program. (Read more information on this program.) Thanks to USDA for supporting these services! Most of the Coalition's General T&TA Services also are relevant for these groups.

CFP Project Planning Guide

The "Community Food Projects Planning Guide" provides a wealth of specific information on what types of projects are eligible for CFP funding, how to develop a strong proposal, and how USDA evaluates proposals. Go to the CFP page to download the Guide.

One-on-One Assistance to CFP Grant Applicants

CFSC's technical assistance specialist for CFP proposals, Hugh Joseph, is available during each CFP grant cycle to provide personalized assistance to applicants. He can help potential applicants decide whether or not to apply for a grant, clarify CFP program guidelines, address technical questions, and/or provide referrals to others with expertise in specific areas. Up to sixty minutes of consultation time is available free of charge to each CFP grant applicant. Read more.

Evaluation Program

The CFS Coalition's Evaluation Program provides training and technical assistance to CFP grant recipients to help them conduct effective program evaluations and use the results to improve their programs. CFSC provides a variety of free resources and services to CFP grantees, including an Evaluation Handbook with an overview of evaluation methods, an Evaluation Toolkit with a variety of surveys and tools designed for CFPs, a free annual evaluation training, and other assistance.
