Immortality has been a dream for humankind since the dawn of time. No one likes the idea of death taking them or their loved ones. What many people detest even more, however, is the idea of having a frail body with lots of ailments in their older age. Living long means little if the extended life is full of pains and challenges. This is why people have been looking for ways to prolong health and life. This endeavor has been largely unsuccessful because anti-aging science did not have any significant breakthroughs until recently.
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+)
Recent research in the field has yielded promising results. The discovery of a substance known as Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) in human cells has been groundbreaking for this type of research. Studies have found NAD+ to be at the center of processes related to aging. As we age, the levels of NAD+ available to cells and tissues decline progressively. This causes a range of issues that are commonly associated with aging such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic disorders. It also causes a range of other problems shown in the figure below:
Figure 1 – Problems Caused by NAD+ Decrease with Age
This figure shows that declining levels of NAD+ can be catastrophic for the body. This is the reason why aging is commonly so difficult. Critical bodily functions get compromised due to depleting NAD+ levels with age. However, the recent research in anti-aging has shown considerable promise in replenishing the NAD+ levels with the help of Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a precursor of NAD+. Increasing the amount of NAD+ available to the cells improves these age-related ailments and helps the user live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
David Sinclair and Aging
David Sinclair is one of the leading experts on aging. He has spent his whole career studying different substances and how they affect aging. He’s a professor of genetics at Harvard University. Throughout his career, he has successfully gotten 35 patents approved and boasts several papers with more than five thousand citations. In total, his work has been cited 77245 times so far. His lab at Harvard is credited with research in the field of aging. David Sinclair has endorsed the use of NMN to increase NAD+ levels in the body in order to reverse the adverse impact of aging.
One of his most popular works is a book titled ’Lifespan: Why We Age And Why We Don’t Have To’. This David Sinclair book explains his theory of aging accurately and in a way that is understandable for the general public. He explains that how we have always thought about aging is wrong. We associate a number of diseases with aging. When we think of diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, cancer, etc., we consider aging as the cause of these diseases when we should be looking at aging as a disease in itself. He thinks that all of these diseases happen because of the underlying disease of aging. He also thinks that we can slow down and even reverse aging. In Lifespan, he explains that even though our body goes through epigenetic changes when aging, the original genetic code remains undamaged. By resetting the code, we can slow down and even reverse aging of our bodies.
David Sinclair has shown a keen interest in anti-aging supplements. He has stated that he takes NMN, Resveratrol, Trimethylglycine (TMG), and Fisetin for anti-aging purposes. He takes 1 gram (1000 mg) of NMN and 0.5 gram (500 mg) of Resveratrol daily during breakfast. He has also said he takes TMG. NMN is mainly needed to replenish the NAD+ levels in the body while TMG helps the body replenish the methyl levels in the body that go down due to breaking down of extra NAD+.
The reason that David Sinclair’s opinions on aging (and the supplements he takes to fight it) matter, relates to the stellar work he has done in the field. His understanding of underlying processes governing aging and research on how to stop it, makes him a competent authority on the subject. He has dedicated his entire academic career to study the ins and outs of aging. He has been conducting research into anti-aging for over four decades and has been successful at demonstrating the benefits of NAD+ and its precursors in improving health and lifespan. In one of his research papers, David Sinclair demonstrated how the precursors of NAD can be effective in improving the healthspan. Healthspan is important because it is not enough to simply increase the length of life, the quality of health needs to be improved so our 60s and 70s are less about diabetes and liver dysfunction and more about enjoying life and work.
Fisetin occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables. There has been evidence of the presence of Fisetin in onions, mangoes, strawberries, kiwis, apples, grapes, cucumbers, nuts, and tomatoes. Its chemical structure can be seen in the figure below:
Figure 4 – Structure of Fisetin
Fisetin has shown strong anti-inflammatory properties. A 2016 study appreciated the role of this substance by saying that Fisetin “has shown strong anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-tumorigenic, anti-invasive, anti-angiogenic, anti-diabetic, neuroprotective, and cardioprotective effects in cell culture and in animal models relevant to human diseases.” One of the most effective ways that Fisetin helps fight aging is by ensuring that the harmful senescent cells are taken care of. These cells become more abundant as we age. Removing them helps decrease inflammation and restore healthy cellular metabolism. Recent studies have found Fisetin to be effective in cancer treatment.
Fisetin is needed in order to fight the cellular senescence in the body. Cellular senescence is a process when cells stop multiplying but instead of dying off as they should, they keep releasing chemicals around them, causing inflammation. Cell senescence is not always a bad thing. Many healthy functions rely on cell senescence such as wound healing, embryonic development, and childbirth. However, outside of its healthy function, cell senescence can be harmful to the body. It causes inflammation and damages the neighboring cells.
Figure 3 – Normal Cell and Senescent Cell
Normally, the body’s immune system is quite good at getting rid of senescent cells that aren’t needed. However, as we age, our immune system becomes less and less effective which leads to a high accumulation of senescent cells. As a result, senescent cells can be connected to a range of conditions related to age such as cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary fibrosis, osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and osteoarthritis. In order to have a shot at effectively slowing down and reversing aging, it is important to deal with the adverse impact of cell senescence on the human body. Fisetin, a substance found in many plants and fruits, effectively accomplishes this goal.
David Sinclair has endorsed Fisetin and stated that he has been taking it for two years.
Figure 2 – David Sinclair on Fisetin
He highlighted its anti-aging properties and benefits in reducing Covid symptoms. Fisetin supplements can help increase the bioavailable amount of the substance for the body’s fight against senescent cells. While Fisetin is found in many cells fruits and vegetables, as apparent from David Sinclair’s tweet, supplements allow Fisetin to enter the bloodstream and get delivered to the cells much easily and in larger amount. This is why David Sinclair has been taking Fisetin supplements and so should you.
Fisetin Lipo Gel – 150 mL – Renue by Science
Renue By Science is one of the leading companies in anti-aging. Their liposomal-based products are widely known and admired in the market. Fisten Lipo Gel by the company is a cost-effective and valuable product by this company. The product comes in the form of a 150 mL Gel bottle. There is 75 mg of liposomal Fisetin in each serving. Each serving equals 2 mL of the product requiring 2 pumps.
While the product can be taken orally, it is recommended that you should take it sublingually. Sublingual supplements are taken by placing each serving under the tongue. They are absorbed from there and directly make it to the bloodstream without requiring them to go through a hostile environment of stomach acids. This way, Fisetin is more bioavailable and gets where it is needed more quickly. That’s why it is recommended that you take Fisetin sublingually instead of orally.
Fisten Lipo Gel helps the body get rid of senescent cells and helps decrease the existing inflammation. Other than that, it also protects your body from future inflammation because it clears the senescent cells before they have a chance to accumulate and cause significant damage to their neighboring cells. The gel also helps sustain a healthy glucose metabolism which, in turn, helps protect your kidney and eye health. The anti-inflammatory properties of Fisetin mean that the supplement helps the cell have more energy at their disposal. When they make more energy, you start feeling and looking better.
Fisetin Lipo Gel comes with a pump mechanism. On the first use, it may take 10-20 pumps to prime. It is recommended to use two pumps per serving.

Does this supplement have any possible interactions with medicines?
It has been reported that the supplement may have possible interactions with blood thinners. If you are taking any such medication, it may be prudent to contact your doctor before you start taking Fisetin.
Why should I take Fisetin supplements instead of eating the natural fruits and vegetables that already contain the substance?
Eating fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, mangoes, cucumbers, and others mentioned before can be helpful but taking a Fisetin supplement helps give a more concentrated dose to the body. Fruits and vegetables go through the digestive tract which means that a lot of Fisetin might not make it to the bloodstream. While eating fruits and vegetables is always healthy, a Fisetin supplement may be more bioavailable. If you are looking for the health benefits provided by Fisetin, a supplement may give your body a better chance at the absorption of this substance.
